Half-Life series director Marc Laidlaw gave a talk on gamescom where he spoke a bit about the series and what’s coming up, and revealed that the team is “finally working on substantial changes for the game.”
This is all-round good news, and it’s great to see the new developments are coming from the Half-Life series, and not Valve’s Lighthouse Studios, which will continue to work on the Source 2 engine.
“It’s great to see the Half-Life series making a comeback,” Marc Laidlaw said, “and that one of the directors, like myself, is making contributions to the project.”
“I’m working on the Half-Life series with Mark as well as creating the Source 2 engine. I’m very excited about our future, and all the great things we’re going to be able to do with the technology.”
He didn’t reveal much, but some of the elements that will be changing for the new version of the game are:
Portability of the Source 2 engine: it’s an essential feature for any developer, and that will also be a priority for the Half-Life series, that’s been dormant for many years.
