Orange County Sheriff’s Department
It took two years and $73,000 for Orange County to realize how dangerous its jails were becoming, even after they spent more than $4 million in state and federal funds to fix and repair them.
New documents obtained by KPCC/LAist show that Orange County Sheriff and District Attorney officials knew that 90 percent of the jail’s inmates had mental health or substance abuse problems and only 30 percent were even getting medication for their ailments.
“One of the things that I’m sad about, in not too many people would be punished for ignoring all of those red flags, all of those excuses and reasons that could have been addressed and resolved,” Don Spector, the Orange County District Attorney, told KPCC/LAist earlier this year.

The DLC contains over a hundred new rides, all of which are designed to be as good as those on RollerCoaster Tycoon. If you own that game, then you will also see the addition of roller coasters to your park as well. It’s a lot of content, even for the game with the most extensive DLC so far, and it also includes new rides and attractions you can only find in Parkitect. It’s all genuinely worth the price if you own the game.
You’ll receive a loading screen when you start to play Parkitect for the first time, because You Are My Park doesn’t want you to make the mistake of buying the game on Steam instead. But the reality is that You Are My Park is now available on Steam, and that presents a bit of a problem. Parkitect is quite a large game, with the most expensive DLC content at launch costing a lot of money, and it doesn’t run well on Steam.
The lack of Steam’s baked-in functionality means that to use Parkitect, you have to have a lot of Steam games installed and configured to use Steam’s library, which can make things a little complicated. I am not proposing to create phonograph records that are as durable as vinyl and that can be played in a listenable manner for the current generation of records and the one after that. But I have found that polypropylene, being quite a soft and fragile material, is not durable enough to make long term records. However, when making a record with this material, you will be able to listen in almost any condition for a long time. What materials do you use for other general purpose products that you leave for a long term? What plastic material will last longer than vinyl record on plastic record player?
A:
Vinyl is, by design, quite fragile, and that is why it is “soft” and easily scratched or damaged.
We have a huge hurdle to clear, which is the generational gap between those who have/own records and those who don’t.
Not many people have (or have access to) vinyl record players, but many people still like listening to vinyl. If you want to preserve vinyl, you’ll need to be educating people about it and persuading them to buy used vinyl records that they don’t (yet) have, which is still a difficult task.
If people don’t know about vinyl, and don’t have the equipment to play it, they can’t transfer it in their head (or on an analog medium) into a digital format. Trying to get a whole generation used to a vinyl format is a little… difficult to say the least.
Not only is it difficult, it’s also just not possible. What recording studios do, is they purchase records on a weekly basis and play them in a sound proof studio. They have equipment to track and record the vinyl tracks perfectly and create digital versions of those records. They have the equipment and people to take care of the vinyl and make sure it is stored properly and played the right way. The reason this is not the norm is because there are many many records in the world. They could not afford to purchase 100 boxes of records each week, unless they were getting a lot of money from potential buyers.
The people that have vinyl records in storage are themselves doing everything in their power to preserve them. They don’t want their records to deteriorate, but they also want to see people listening to them.
